New research has indicated that a yo-yo diet is better than no diet at all for those who need to lose weight. Losing weight rapidly and then regaining it again has generally been considered bad for health. However, new research from an Ohio University in the United States concluded that animals, who switch between a high fat diet and a diet low in fat every few weeks, lived longer than those who remained on a diet consistently high in fat. The study also indicated that mice followed in the diet study had better blood glucose levels, which may have implications for those prone to diabetes.
